Noah and the Ark

Saturday, June 28th, Bernell made his debut as Noah in a local West Bountiful parade. Our Stake was assigned this year to do a float for the 24th of July Parade so many people have spent countless hours designing and putting this thing together.

The elephants squirted water out their trunks, the giraffe moved up and down, and the hippo's blew bubbles out the back.
Bernell heard some parents say to their kids, "There's Noah." And he could hear the kid's reply, "No, that's not Noah; Noah's my brother."

Bernell will be Noah 3 more times-the Centerville (July 4th), Bountiful (July 23rd), and Salt Lake (July 24th) parades.

Guess we'll get our fill of parades this year!

Canyonlands

Here we are at the confluence of the Green River and the Colorado River overlook.
Bernell and I went on our annual Canyonlands trip with the Utah County Jeep Patrol, June 5th to the 8th. They set up this huge army tent and cooked fabulous breakfasts and dinners here.
When out on the road, they'd bring this heavy grill and make hot sandwiches for our lunch each day. This picture show him making a steak-and-everything sandwich.
We drove Elephant Hill which was very rough and steep. That's Bernell hanging his head out the window.
The drive through the Needles area is beautiful. Lots of wild flowers and flowering cactus.
The drive through here is so narrow we had to fold in our mirrors and take it very slow.
Check out the right wheel in this picture. He had to slowly ease it down so his truck wouldn't tip hard and hit the rock wall on the side.
An ambush just waiting to happen. Lots of squirt gun fights and lots of fun!

It was a great trip!

My New Blog

I've just begun my own blog today and so I will be learning how it works. I've enjoyed reading Arnold's and Julie's so I'll give it a try, too.
Our latest adventure was a trip to St. George last week. We love seeing the Broadway musicals at the Tuacahn Amphitheater so we saw
Les Miserables first and The Sound of Music the next night. During the day, we visited the Brigham Young home, the visitor's center at the Temple, and the Jacob Hamblin home in Santa Clara. We ate lunch at a fun little old house converted to a bakery and lunch place called Tobler's in Santa Clara.
It was pretty hot, 103 degrees, during the day but the evenings were nice for the plays.
